Wills and Advance Directives

The Law Office of Samantha L. Segal, P.C. understands that people want to take care of their family,
children, and loved ones.  As people experience milestones in life including marriage, children, purchase of
property,  illness, death, and business relationships, planning becomes a necessity to secure our intentions.
Whether through marriage by law, business relationships, domestic partners, unmarried couples, or divorced
couples, all have one common interest.  That interest is that of protecting those who support us and we care
about. Now, with the options and documents available to everyone, the stress of leaving difficult decisions in
the hands of family members can be avoided with proper planning.  These plans should be made in advance
so that your choices are known and followed which arise at times of illness or death.

Difficult questions arise at the time of illness that can lead to confusion and upset in a family.  This is why
these decisions should be made well in advance.  These question include:

•        Who can visit me in a hospital?
•        Who will take care of my children?
•        Who can my doctor discuss my health treatments?
•        Who can make life altering decisions about my medical treatment?
•        Who do I want to take care of my financial responsibilities?

Properly prepared documents can give you peace at mind that what you would have done before you got sick
can still happen. If these decisions are not made in advance,  a Court may decide these questions for you and
your family.  If family members disagree with these decisions, changing the Courts decision can be time
consuming and very costly.  Contact the practice to start planning your family estate matters.  Ms. Segal will
work closely with each client and tailor a plan suited for each individual family and circumstance.
